Mike Mac Domhnaill was born
in 1953 at Clouncagh, County Limerick and the family
moved to Newcastle West in 1957 after his father’s
death. The poems in his book Widow’s Son/Mac Baintrí reflect on locality,
history, nature, family, world, belief. They were
written over many years. There are 52 poems in English.

blianta. Tá siad bunaithe ar áit dhúchais, stair, dúlra,
clann, domhan,creideamh. Tá 52 dhán i nGaeilge.
Mike Mac Domhnaill has been
published in various journals. Most satisfying has to be
the honour of poems published in the Stony Thursday Book
1978 alongside the late Michael Hartnett. Short-listed
for the Francis Mac Manus Short Story Award 2007 and
has work read on RTE Radio 1 during the summer of
2009.
